The Life List

My Life List was inspired by Maggie of Mighty Girl.  It’s a list of all the things I want to accomplish before I die.  You should make one too!  And then tell me about it.

  1. Learn to make magnificent macarons.
  2. Learn to sew well on a sewing machine.
  3. Plant a garden.
  4. Visit Japan.
  5. Take a road trip from NYC to Los Angeles.
  6. Own my own photography studio, outside of my home.
  7. Visit India.
  8. Join a CSA.
  9. Take a cruise on the Nile.
  10. Get a dog.
  11. Make homemade marshmallows. (Done 4/19/10)
  12. Become conversational in Italian, German, Spanish, and Russian.
  13. Learn to play an instrument.
  14. Visit Hawaii.
  15. See the Grand Canyon.
  16. Visit New Zealand.
  17. Win an award for my photography.
  18. Become healthier and more fit.
  19. Go back to Ireland.
  20. Go to the top of the Empire State Building.
  21. Live in California for a year.
  22. Learn how to decorate a cake properly.
  23. Refinish our beat up coffee table.
  24. Learn how to reupholster furniture.
  25. Dye my hair blonde again, for a little while.
  26. See the Pyramids.
  27. Visit Israel.
  28. Go white water rafting in West Virginia.
  29. Visit Alaska.
  30. Visit Russia.
  31. Stand on the Great Wall of China.
  32. Visit Morocco.
  33. Camp out on a beach.
  34. See the aurora borealis in person.
  35. Watch a meteor shower far from the city lights.
  36. Rent a beach house for the whole summer.
  37. Grow a small herb garden.
  38. Visit all fifty states. (21/50 so far)
  39. Take a photograph every single day for a year.
  40. Go wine tasting in Italy.
  41. Travel through the Panama Canal.
  42. Shoot a gun. (I know that’s a crazy one for someone who is a left of left liberal and believes in insane amounts of gun control, but I’d just like to see what it’s like to fire one. Safely, of course, at a firing range or something.)
  43. Go to at least one game of a World Series the Yankees are playing in.
  44. Visit Montreal.
  45. Finish a Sunday New York Times crossword all by myself.
  46. Get a kitchen table big enough for six people, so we can have better dinner parties.
  47. Knit a hat.
  48. Visit Argentina.
  49. Make a quilt.
  50. Go sailing.
  51. Be able to run a mile without stopping.
  52. Spend a week on Santorini.
  53. Go apple picking.
  54. Take a road trip through New England in the fall.
  55. Cook Christmas dinner all by myself one year.
  56. Own a small vacation house outside of the city.
  57. Have dinner at Gramercy Tavern.
  58. Go ice skating at Rockefeller Center.
  59. Take a class at the French Culinary Institute.
  60. Be able to donate $10,000 to my former employers and charity of choice: The Humane Society of  New York.
  61. Buy a Nikon D3s.
  62. Go snowboarding again.
  63. Spend a birthday in Paris.
  64. Learn to make my own cheese at home.
  65. Get Yankees season tickets.
  66. Go sledding.
  67. Buy a designer dress and not worry about the price tag.
  68. Get another tattoo.
  69. Take a road trip with my BFF.
  70. Swim in Iceland’s Blue Lagoon Hot Spring.
  71. Walk across the Golden Gate Bridge.
  72. Go to a fashion show during Fashion Week.
  73. Go horse back riding again. (Haven’t been since I was a kid.)
  74. Visit Bali.
  75. Visit Istanbul.
  76. Float in the Dead Sea.
  77. Go to an opera.
  78. Ride the Cyclone on Coney Island.
  79. Send everyone I care about a homemade Valentine’s Day card one year.
  80. Give a free photo session to a needy family once a year.
  81. Walk the entire length of Manhattan in one day.
  82. Get my teeth whitened.
  83. Ride the Staten Island Ferry.
  84. Get a New York driver’s license.
  85. Organize a once a month photographer’s meet up for local photogs.
  86. Paint the walls in our next apartment, and create a beautiful living space.
  87. Get my arms in shape.
  88. Go to the Bronx Zoo. (Done 4/17/10)
  89. Go on a fun vacation with The BFG, my brother, and sister-in-law.
  90. Ride a ferris wheel.
  91. Rent a house on the Outer Banks for a week one summer with The BFG.
  92. See the sunrise over the ocean.
  93. Make homemade jam.
  94. Read all the books on my bookshelf before I buy more.
  95. Eat completely organic for one month.
  96. Make homemade ice cream.
  97. Go fishing with my dad and brother, like when I was a kid.
  98. Visit Tahiti.
  99. Learn how to make chicken and dumplings from my grandma.
  100. Go three months without shopping for unnecessary things. (IN PROGRESS! Started 4/21/10)
  101. Get married. (That will be happening on October 9, 2010!)
  102. Have a baby someday.
  103. Pick a cookbook, and make every single recipe in it.
  104. Improve my French until I’m completely fluent.
  105. Blog regularly on my personal blog for one year. (Regularly means at least three times a week. And I say personal blog, because I have no problem doing this on my business blog, just my personal one.)
  106. Try acupuncture.
  107. Feel confident enough to wear a bikini on the beach.
  108. Go to the Belmont Stakes, and wear a big hat.
  109. Plant a tree.
  110. Go to the Smithsonian.
  111. Go to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens.
